Edward Architecture are proud to have designed and managed the refurbishment and alterations of Derby House on behalf of St Christopher’s Trust.
St Christopher’s Trust is a charity providing accommodation and support to people with learning difficulties from their base in Glossop, Derbyshire.
Their requirement was to update their current accommodation to a more fit-for-purpose home, increasing the room sizes and improving facilities for up to 14 residents.
Their existing office accommodation was demolished and a link extension was built to create larger bedrooms and better facilities, including a new lift and ensuite bathrooms. There was initially accommodation for 18 residents, but as the home was not fully subscribed, the internal layout of the building has been reconfigured to house 14 residents in larger, more practical rooms. The refurbishment has also improved car parking facilities for staff and visitors, and a new canopy has been added to the front of the building to create a new feature out of an otherwise dated façade.
The refurbishment has given the accommodation an updated modern feel and provided a more pleasant living space for residents.
